The 3M Self Generating Vacuum Random Orbital Sander uses the exhaust air, which is directed through a venturi, to create a vacuum at the sanding interface.

This 3M sander is an orbital sander that has a threaded attachment feature enables a 1 in external threaded vacuum hose to be securely attached to the orbital sander without having to worry about the hose becoming disconnected. This 3M sander comes with a new 3M, patent pending, Clean Sanding Filter Bag, Filter Bag Adaptor, and Hookit Clean Sanding Disc Pad which provides excellent dust collection and eliminates the need for a vacuum hose. The 3M 20327 Self Generated Vacuum Random Orbital Sander system creates a user friendly and high efficiency dust collection system when used with 3M Clean sanding abrasives.

Salesman Note: After watching the sales demonstration done by the 3M Rep. at my store, I was impressed at how well the 3M Self Generating Vacuum Random Orbital Sander effectively removed a large majority of the sanding dust. I personally like the fact that this 3M Sander uses a Self Generating technology without the use of an expensive vacuum system.
