Determine desired location for molding.Protekto-Trim will adhere to most clean, dry, and smooth surfaces.
Apply molding at temperatures above 65 degree F. to ensure proper adhesion.
For best results allow fresh painted surfaces to dry for 5 days before applying molding.
Clean application area thoroughly to remove road film, grease, wax, and oil. Use a good quality wax & grease remover for best results. A 50/50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water can also be substituted as an alternative for grease & wax remover. Use a clean, soft cloth to prepare the surface.
Do not apply molding on or near moving components. Do not apply molding to engine surfaces or other components that will experience excessive heat.
Important: For interior applications, Vinyl protectants must be thoroughly removed from surface for proper adhesion. Use a mixture of 5 parts water, 1part ammonia, and 1 part mild dish soap on a soft cloth to remove vinyl protectants. Start in a small, less visible area to check for color fastness.
Caution: Do not apply molding on or around airbag deployment areas.
Application:
Using molding shears (note: pruning shears also work well), cut the molding to the desired length for each panel on which it will be installed.
On exterior applications, allow 1/8" gap from the front of each door to ensure adequate clearance for doors to open.
For long, straight applications, masking tape can be applied to the vehicle to be used as a guide for positioning the molding. Apply the masking tape just below the desired level of the molding.
Remove approximately 8" of red tape backing and begin applying the molding to the surface while applying light pressure.
After installing each length reapply pressure to the molding to ensure a strong bond.
Allow exterior applications to bond for three days before washing vehicle in an automatic car wash.
