Reciprocal link exchange is one of the best ways to promote your website for free. Why is this important? For increased traffic to your site and the fact that search engines give a higher position to sites that have many links to them.
We prefer to exchange text links rather than banners (graphics) for the following reasons:
? Text takes up much less bandwidth than graphics. There are still a lot of folks surfing the 'net using phone modems. Like it or not that's just the way things are. Sites with tons of graphics may look nice but download slowly for those who are still using modems. Chances are your visitors will go elsewhere if your page takes forever to appear.
? Search engines are able to deal with text links much more easily than with graphic links. If you're exchanging links with the hope of raising your placement with the search engines and your links page(s) or the site your exchanging links with can not be indexed properly, you are wasting your time along with everyone else's.
